University of Idaho extension reports note that female farm operators average 11 percent fewer off-farm trips than male counterparts due to childcare responsibilities in counties without public pre-K programs. The grant supports projects that document women's contributions to Idaho agriculture through targeted travel to these dispersed county courthouses and private collections. Funding covers mileage at the federal rate for routes exceeding 150 miles between research sites, a necessity given that no single repository holds complete irrigation district records from the early 20th century.
