Restorative funding targets these specific shortfalls by expanding evening and mobile clinic capacity within existing facilities in Twin Falls, Burley, and Lewiston. The initiative equips clinics to perform sealants, fillings, and extractions on-site rather than referring patients 90-plus miles to Boise or Idaho Falls.
Idaho's frontier county designation imposes distinct operational thresholds. Applicants must document ability to maintain equipment across temperature extremes and to staff clinics during harvest seasons when patient volume spikes. Unlike neighboring states with denser provider networks, Idaho requires evidence that funded positions will remain filled for at least 24 months post-grant through demonstrated recruitment pipelines from the state's three dental assisting programs.
